Position: Field Manager / Superintendent

Job Qualifications / Pre-Requisites:

  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years experience as a full-charge superintendent in commercial construction, working for a General Contractor.
  • Must be capable of supervising all trades. (Experience within a single trade as a supervisor is not qualification for this position).
  • Good communication skills.
  • Must be a team member and get along well with superiors, clients, sub contractors and fellow employees.
  • Have basic computer skills (Auto-cad helpful).
  • Good organization skills and legible handwriting.
  • Detail oriented and good with paperwork and reports.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Ability to create and follow construction schedules with completion of projects on or before scheduled dates and within the company budget.
  • Experience with both ground-up and tenant-improvement construction.
  • Experience with masonry, wood framing and structural steel buildings. Knowledge of tilt-ups is helpful but cannot be substituted when it is your only experience.
  • Must have a good safety record.
  • Willing to learn and follow all company policies and safety rules.
  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements.
  • OSHA and CPR certified (helpful).
  • Estimating experience for commercial projects (helpful).

The position will focus on providing day to day construction management and construction coordination. Specific duties will include the following:

  • Prepare daily reports, RFI, change orders, etc.
  • Assist with submittals and warranty manuals
  • Schedule and coordinate sub contractors
  • Coordination of day to day field activities
  • Overseeing the performance of the work per scope and signed contracts
  • Scheduling inspections and follow up of corrections
  • Communicate with JCD project manager, owners, architects, engineers, etc.
  • Coordination of tenant improvement work as required
  • Preparation of monthly reports as necessary
  • Analyze and resolve problems
  • Work weekends or evenings if necessary to complete job on time and in budget
  • Some traveling (driving) 30 miles or more, or if needed stay in a hotel, apartment
  • Work a night job if company needs you too
  • Create and follow a construction schedule
  • Weekly and daily safety meetings
  • Must be willing and have some multi trade hands on experience to help if necessary, adjust or hang a door, saw cut, drywall, paint, trouble shoot HVAC, electrical, plumbing whatever may be required to complete a job.
